‘The Walking Dead’ Season 4 Spoiler and Betting Odds: Hershel to Die Next
We’ve walked this path before. We tried to predict who will die first in a popular series via the betting odds available online. We know now too that we can earn some money off these deaths.
It’s the perfect fit to your TV series viewing experience: get hyped for an episode a certain week, wager a dollar or a hundred on our (least) favorite character to die and wait for the scenes to unfold … Rinse and repeat week by week, episode by episode.
This week, we’re riding the “who-dies-first” bandwagon once again. It’s even more apt too, for we’re tackling “The Walking Dead” betting lines for the next character to lose his mortality (and morality) in the most popular TV series today.
Yes, before one of them turns into a walker (or a biter, if you are the Governor’s fanboy) you might as well put a little wager on them and potentially earn. You know, maybe even earn a living off these deaths if you have Nostradamus-like skills in forecasting these things.
First, the obligatory explanation to those new to sports entertainment betting. The formula is as simple as bashing a walker’s head:
X (Amount of Bet) times Betting Odds = Total Payout
For example, if you bet $100 on a line with betting odds of 9.0 then you’ll get a total payout of $900 or $800 winnings.
"The Walking Dead" Betting Odds - Next Character to Die
Hershel Greene (1.2)
The Governor (13.0)
Tyreese (7.0)
Beth Greene (11.0)
Sasha (15.0)
Glenn Rhee (17.0)
Michonne (21.0)
Carol Peletier (41.0)
Maggie Greene (51.0)
Daryl Dixon (67.0)
Carl Grimes (81.0)
Rick Grimes (101.0)

Basing on the list and lines above, it appears that the oldest in the prison camp, Hershel Greene, will get to meet his maker first over everyone else. With very low odds of 1.2 ($100 wager has a total payout of $120 or just $20 winnings) it’s a clear indication that he’s on life support.
(Semi-related sports trivia: Did you know that there’s an American football player and MMA fighter named Herschel Walker? So if Hershel dies in the series and becomes a walker...)
To contrast, the remaining members of the Grimes family has the lowest chance of getting killed. Carl at 81.0 gets a payout of $8,100 and Rick at 101.0 with earnings of $10,100! And to think we wanted Carl dead since Season 2!
Like anything in sports, or the world of “The Walking Dead” for that matter, we may see the series writes pull the rug underneath us. What’s stopping them from killing the other maybe unpopular but crucial characters?
How about The Governor (13.0) finally getting what he deserves? That’s a nice payout of $1,300 if you bet on the most hatable characters in the show. What about the Tyreese (7.0) and Sasha (15.0), you’ll wake-up to $700 or $1,500 if one of them dies first in the next episode.
Along with Rick, Daryl (67.0) and his unlimited arrows and Maggie (51.0) and her boobs are priced the highest—or the favourites NOT to die anytime soon— so there’s really no betting value there.
Still, this is “The Walking Dead” we are talking about. You’re in for a surprise if you think you know what’s happening next.
Round these parts, we’re betting a hundred bucks on Carl. Just for the heck of it.
