AMC execs were worried about releasing standalone episodes in "The Walking Dead" Season 4. Episodes 6 and 7 were the Governor-centric ones. Charlie Collier, AMC president, talked to Entertainment Weekly about the standalone episodes.

"You get those scripts and go. What are people going to think? And are we going to see the Norman Reedus fans saying, 'Where is he?' But what a payoff!" Collier said.

AMC Programming Director Joel Stillerman cited the other actors of "The Walking Dead" were cool about the standalone episodes of David Morrissey. They want the show to succeed.

"My biggest fear is that [David Morrissey] was such an engaging character - so much so we put him in another pilot immediately [Line of Sight] - my fear was how's it going to feel for Andrew Lincoln and the rest of the cast. But they were so generous and so excited. They want that show to succeed and continue to expand and not rely on the same storytelling success it's had," Stillerman said.

Andrew Lincoln loved the Governor episodes and mentioned that there were the best of the series.

"The back eight [episodes], we've scattered [the characters] in all different directions - you'll see more of that," Stillerman added.

It means one or two Daryl-heavy episodes for fans.

Prison group won't be reuniting quickly. So fans will watch mini group episodes featuring Daryl Dixon and Beth Greene and more. "The Walking Dead" season 4's new trailer is quite mind blowing, it shows Michonne and Beth breaking down.

The second-half episodes of "The Walking Dead" Season 4 will also see new characters. With the entry of these new faces, the storyline of the show will evolve.

New characters in "The Walking Dead" Season 4 are Abraham, Eugene, Rosita and Gareth. Also, fans can expect to see Morgan again.

"The Walking Dead" Season 4 Episode 9 airs Sunday, Feb. 9 on AMC.
