‘The Walking Dead Season 5’: Rick Grimes Bloody Fate, AMC Orders Spinoff Series
In anticipation of "The Walking Dead" Season 5, Norman Reedus, who plays as Daryl Dixon in the zombie TV show, posted some rather interesting photos on his Twitter account. A photo of a severed hand has reportedly led fans to believe of Rick Grimes' bloody encounter with The Governor, which ended with him losing his hand as depicted in the comics. Or as a twist and as the TV version of the comics, Daryl may have to pay the price instead.

Norman Reedus (@wwwbigbaldhead) posted a series of photos on the set of "The Walking Dead" on Sept. 4. The first image was captioned "Nicotero n I just got hitched" and shows two clasped hands, the other covered in blood. Then the second photo reveals a mock portrayal of a marriage proposal, with the actor covering his mouth with his clean hand. It was captioned "I said yes." Lastly, Norman Reedus may have just made fans freak out, according to Screenrant, as the third photo shows the bloody hand has been severed and lying on the grass. The actor captioned it "Divorced."
In the original comic series, Rick Grimes had a bloody encounter with The Governor, according to Screenrant. The "insane tyrant of Woodbury" manages to sever Grimes right hand by chopping it off. However, based on the set photos Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) shared, "The Walking Dead" TV show could tell a different story. Instead of Grimes, the site speculates Dixon could end up losing his hand instead.
Daryl Dixon has reportedly technically been left uninjured from the past episodes' fight against the zombies. Dixon losing his hand, according to Screenrant, would be more interesting to watch as he would be struggling to relearn survival skills with just one hand. It would be a far better move than to see Grimes hurt all over again.
However, the site also points out the differences of the bloody hand based on the comics. Norman Reedus posted a photo of a severed left hand as evident on the wedding ring. "The Walking Dead" comics clearly mentioned of the right hand. So there's reportedly still a possibility that the bloody hand could after all belong to Rick Grimes.
In related news, Movieweb reports AMC has ordered a spinoff series for "The Walking Dead." Showrunners Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert are executive producers.
The spinoff will reportedly be a companion TV series to address fans' curiosity on "what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world," according to AMC president Charlie Collier. Robert Kirkman, likewise, claimed it would provide light to "many corners of "The Walking Dead" universe that remain unseen in the shadows."
The pilot episode of the spinoff will reportedly be in production in 2014. However, no cast and location details have been provided yet. Meanwhile, Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" returns to the AMC channel on Oct. 12.
