‘The Walking Dead’ season 7, episode 9 spoilers: Robert Kirkman on Father Gabriel’s spy; Daryl not over Glenn
“The Walking Dead” season 7, episode 9 (Walking Dead 7x09) won’t air until February next year, but it doesn’t mean that fans can’t look ahead. A lot of questions have been raised after the midseason finale and who better to answer queries about “The Walking Dead” than its creator and the show’s stars.
Spoiler alert: This preview contains plot details about “The Walking Dead” season 7. The season premiered Oct. 20. The series is available for Australian viewers to watch on Foxtel every Monday, 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
The midseason finale of the “The Walking Dead” left nothing but questions for fans. The episode ended with Rick and his group together again and ready to fight back. Well, it sort of ended that way, except that it didn’t.
After the big group hug, an intriguing post-credits scene rolled away. The scene involved Father Gabriel and an apparent spy keenly keeping an eye, or two, on him. The boots that the spy was wearing just so happens to be a clue on who the character is.
Following the episode, “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman and the series’ stars Austin Nichols and Norman Reedus appeared on “The Talking Dead” to discuss the midseason finale. They talked a little bit about the scene, just enough so as not to get in trouble.
“I really wish I could tell you,” said Kirkman said when host Chris Hardwick inquired about the boot-wearing spy. “All I can say is that those boots, you'll definitely recognise those from earlier. They're connected to that boat scene, and you know, that's a big part of what we're dealing with when we come back next half of the season, so we'll be revealing that soon. It's going to be a great half season.”
While Daryl and the group are united again, the things that he went through at Negan and the Saviors’ camp are going to linger for a while.
“I think he's still reeling from Glenn and Abraham. And especially Glenn,” said Reedus about his character. “You know, it's always been in the back of my mind that I hope Maggie forgives me. I think he's going through a whole bunch of stuff right now, but I think he's ready to kill someone.”
Daryl is indeed ready to kill again, although he’s not alone. Kirkman said that the whole crew will be back for some major payback. Fans will surely be glad to see Rick back at it again.
“Rick Grimes is back to being Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon is back to being Daryl Dixon. The whole group is back together, ready to kick some ass,” said Kirkman.
