“The Walking Dead” season 7 episode 15 is the last episode before the finale, and things are certainly heating up, which should please Rosita. Ever since the season premiere, all she’s been waiting for is a crack at Negan. She’s dying for some revenge, but it’s not the only thing she wants.

Spoiler alert: This preview contains plot details about “The Walking Dead” season 7. The season premiered Oct. 20. The series is available for Australian viewers to watch on Foxtel every Monday, 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Rosita Espinosa has always had a fighter’s mentality according to Christian Serratos, the actress plays the skinny but fiery character on the AMC show. It has always been a part of who Rosita is, even before she lost Abraham. But losing someone who she was “very close with, learned a lot from and was in love with” – and in the manner she lost him – lit up a fire within Rosita, who has never been as intense as she is now.

“I think losing any one of her family members would have set her on this trajectory,” says Serratos. “But I think especially because it was Abraham, it really destroyed her.”

That fire may have clouded Rosita’s judgment and decision-making, though, as she is now doing things on her own. While it can be considered as an act of bravery, it’s also close to irrationality. Perhaps it’s both, but it should be understandable, especially for someone like Rosita who doesn’t want to lose any more loved ones. This isn’t just about killing Negan, it’s about saving what’s left of her.

“If she needs to be the one who dies so that nobody else has to, then that’s what she’s willing to do,” says Serratos. “Of course, there is some foolishness because she’s acting on emotion right now.”

It’s not just Rosita who’s been acting that way. Fans have seen a number of “The Walking Dead” characters do it, including Rick, Daryl, Michonne and – of course – Sasha, who’s on a suicide mission herself. Rosita was ready to die in order to take down Negan, but Sasha locked her out of the Sanctuary fence before they could even begin with their plot, believing it wasn’t Rosita’s time yet.

Serratos loves the fact that her character is “never fully stripped down” despite having scars. Rosita still has her guard up all the time even with everything she’s been through. The apocalypse certainly didn’t help with that innate aspect of Rosita, but she does release the grip every now and then.

“She’s had a wall up, but we’ve seen her let it down for the people she’s closest to,” declares Serratos. “And that includes Sasha.”
