“The Walking Dead” season 8 promises to be more explosive than its predecessor. The All Out War is coming, and it commences right from the tip-off. The season premiere, according to a showrunner, is going to be action-packed and worth the wait.

Spoiler alert: This article contains plot details about “The Walking Dead” season 8, which will premiere in October of this year. Australian viewers will be available to watch the new season on Foxtel.

Filming of the upcoming season is underway, and it just so happens that the season 8 opener would be the 100th episode of everyone’s favourite zombie apocalypse series. Next season’s instalments, according to the show’s cast members and showrunners, will be fast-paced from beginning to end.

“The Walking Dead” co-executive producer Denise Huth said that the cast members are having more fun filming the upcoming season compared to the last one. It’s like night and day, according to Huth. Their spirits were down last season because most of the characters were separated thanks to Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) takeover, but now Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and company are uniting as one, and are looking forward to fighting the Saviours.

Huth added that the energy on the set is through the roof. New characters are getting acquainted with the show’s “OGs,” who are getting their groove back after the gruelling seventh season. The co-executive producer promised that the upcoming season’s opener will have “a ton of action.”

“It’s super exciting,” Huth told EW. “I think it will be really, really satisfying. As a fan of the show — and I am a fan of the show — when I read it, it was like ‘Awww, I can’t wait! It’s going to be great!’ It’s worth the wait to get to this moment.”

Negan is going to have his hands full next season. He shook the Alexandrians right to their very core like no one else has ever done. Now that they have snapped out of the collective funk, Rick and his crew are out for blood.

Despite his notoriety and relevance, Negan surprisingly wasn’t voted by fans as the show’s best villain of all time. In a recent poll, “The Walking Dead” enthusiasts voted Shane as the best villain of the AMC series. The show’s original antagonist, which was portrayed by Jon Bernthal, may have been chosen by fans because he wasn’t the typical villain like the bad-wielding Saviours leader is.
