"Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" tops weekend box office
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps topped the the box office this weekend in the United States. The sequel to the 1987 Michael Douglas-starrer made $19 million, beating Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole which earned $16.3 million.
Michael Douglas also appeared in this sequel, as father to Carrey Mulligan's character who is about to be married to her boyfriend, played by Shia Lebeouf. The actor is currently under-going treatment for his throat cancer. Previously, the Hollywood star expressed optimism that this "pretty bad year" would be topped by the success of his latest movie, "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."
Michael Douglas can now focus on his recovery from cancer now that his latest movie secured the number 1 spot in the box office.
