Last week's sleep-in-the glass box publicity stunt at the Museum of Modern Art Exhibition by actress Tilda Swinton paid off because it generated the desired global publicity and created a new Internet phenomenon called Tildaing.

People who want to give Ms Swinton a run for her money may want to consider applying for a unique job opening at the Hotel Finn in Helsinki.

The hotel is seeking professional sleepers who will test how comfortable are its beds spread in 35 rooms. That means the successful applicant will be employed by the hotel for 35 days and get to sleep on the job. However, the sleep expert, when awake, is also required to blog about his or her experiences.

Additional requirements, besides not being an insomniac, is that the applicant could write a quality blog, must be fluent in the Finnish and English languages while those with knowledge of the Russian tongue may have an advantage over other candidates, said Tio Tikka, the hotel manager.

The AP reported that about 600 people have applied for the one vacant slot and the hotel will continue to accept applicants until April 30. The winner will begin work on May 17.

The hotel's promo is similar to the relaunched Best Job in the World campaign by Tourism Australia which offered six spots for people to spend one year in the land down under with tasks that includes party organising and photography.

A Chinese online travel platform, Qunar, also sought professional sleepers in 2010. The contest was woman by a woman named Zhuang who bested 7,800 applicants.
