The Wanted Keen on Ending Feud with One Direction Over Drinks; Eyes Collaboration with Boy Band Instead [PHOTOS]
The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes was very open to working things out between his group and that of another English band, One Direction. Nathan found the ongoing feud “boring” and suggested that energy must best be used to collaborate on a project.
This was the first time that someone from both directions said something about the possibility of working together on a project. The two groups exchanged heated words on social media, particularly on Twitter, and to hear them considering a collaboration cuts a breath of fresh air.
Nathan took a look back to other band groups which opted to work together and compared what it would be like for One Direction and the English-Irish group, The Wanted.
"You never know, you never know! I think with Backstreet Boys and New Kids [On The Block], that's really cool what they did, and there's been some great collaborations. You never know," Nathan Sykes was quoted as telling MTV News while he was hitting a golf ball.
The group decided to celebrate the release of their new single, “We Own the Night,” from their album, “Word of Mouth.”
"I think both ourselves and One Direction are, as far as I'm concerned, whatever kinds of words were said since I wasn't really part of it, think it kind of [went away now,] which is awesome," Nathan added.
After his vocal cord surgery, Nathan was singing a different tune, though he insisted that he was not part of any misunderstanding between the two groups.
"I think it's the best people really concentrate on the success that we're both having and how well [we're doing,] which is always great."
One Direction and The Wanted began their “friendly rivalry” as soon as they propelled to superstardom and became household names when they both launched singles for the U.S. market in 2012.
Nathan believed it is about time that they put everything behind. To do this, Nathan suggested “drinking it over.”
"(I'd have a pint with) Niall. From what I've heard, Niall's a lovely guy," Nathan said, according to Entertainmentwise.com.
Max George, the group’s ladies’ man, and Siva Kaneswaran, the only one with a girlfriend when they moved in to L.A. mansion for their reality show, wanted more than a drink. Both wanted to get to know One Direction a bit more since they have just “met on Twitter.”
"And Harry. Harry seems cool," said Max.
"We only know them from Twitter," Siva Kaneswaran chimed in.
Now that The Wanted began to sing a new tune altogether, it looks like One Direction is challenged to follow the good deed. Will we see a collaboration from the English boy bands?
