The second round of the FIBA Asia Championship has already kicked off on Monday, and the competition is expected to get even more intense from here onwards.

After three days of high-level basketball, 12 teams advanced to the second round of play with Chinese Taipei, Iran, Japan and Kazakhstan still undefeated after lording over their respective group. However, the battle for the eight quarterfinal spot will be more brutal in this round as the stake becomes even higher.

Host country Philippines is coming off a devastating loss at the hands of its rival Chinese Taipei, but the five-time Asian Basketball Champions remain a dangerous team to deal with. Defending champion China is expected to come up big in its coming games, while former champs Japan and Korea will try to make things competitive throughout the remainder of the tournament.

The real battle is about to begin on Monday, and only the strongest teams will survive.
