The 2013 FIBA Asia Championship - Another day, a brand new match-up to deal with for the remaining teams in the second round of the FIBA Asia Championship in Manila, Philippines.

After a scintillating first day of the second round play on Monday, the competition is expected to get even more brutal on Tuesday, Aug 6, as teams try to secure their place in the quarterfinal.

For the pace-setters Chinese Taipei and Iran, the final two games of the second round will be crucial for them to have a better match-up heading into the knockout stages.

As for the trailers like the Philippines, Qatar, China, and South Korea, the remainder of the schedule will determine their fate in the knockout stages.

Japan vs. Chinese Taipei

Tuesday's Japan-Chinese Taipei showdown is sure to revive some old rivalry between two South Asian basketball powers.

Japan, which is coming off a humiliating 90-71 loss at the hands of the host country Philippines, is expected to go all out against a Chinese Taipei team that has been incredibly shooting well from the outside.

A loss for Japan will put them in a do-or-die battle with Jordan on Wednesday, while an upset win against the Taiwanese will extend their stay in Manila.

Philippines vs. Qatar

After blowing a 13-point fourth quarter lead in a loss to Taiwan on Saturday, the Philippines bounced back in a big way on Monday as they demolished Japan by 19 points.

Now, with the top spot in Group E still up for grabs, the Filipino dribblers will once again gun for another win against a very tough Qatar squad led by naturalised forward Jarvis Hayes.

This game will feature an intriguing clash between Filipinos' speed and Qataris' size, leading up to another surefire hoops battle at the Mall of Asia Arena.
