FIBA Asia Championship Games to Watch: Up Next Philippines vs. Hong Kong, Korea vs. India

The FIBA Asia Championship 2013 has seen almost everything since the biennial cage battle started last week in the basketball crazy city of Manila.

From Iran's overall dominance to the Philippine's raucous crowd support, this year's FIBA Asia tournament was nothing but beautiful to watch. However, the time has come to finally separate the contenders from the pretenders.

After all the sensational plays, heart-breaking upsets, and scintillating victories, the moment of truth is here. From the field of 12 teams (six per group), only eight teams will advance to the knockout stages.

Iran (5-0), South Korea (4-1), China (2-2) and Kazakhstan (2-2) will all surely come out of Group F and already booked their seeding into the next round. On the other hand, Group E has yet to establish a top seed as Chinese Taipei (4-0), Qatar (3-1) and Philippines (3-1) all have a shot to be the no. 1 team of the group.

Meanwhile, Japan and Jordan were figured in a do-or-die match (10:30 a.m) for the last quarterfinal seat in Group E. The winner of the match will have a chance to extend their stay in Manila and earn a date with Iran in the final eight.

The Philippine team will have a light work today as they face Hong Kong at 8:30 p.m, but the real battle will be the showdown between Qatar and Chinese Taipei. Qatar can clinch the top seed if they can beat Chinese Taipei by at least 17 points, while failing to reach that margin means the Philippines will get the no. 1 spot, with Qatar sitting at no. 2 and Chinese Taipei at no. 3.
