Barcelona new recruit Neymar once again proved that he's the future of the ballclub after scoring his maiden goal in Barca's 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday.

Barcelona overcame an injury to star player Lionel Messi (left thigh), who did not play for the entire second half. Neymar, considered as the brightest football star in this generation, checked in the 59th minute and made his presence felt with a header off a cross by Dani Alves in the 66th minute.

Atletico Madrid's David Villa scored in the 12th minute to put his former team on an early 1-0 deficit. Villa finally left Camp Nou after two seasons following the arrival of the 21-year-old Neymar.

With Wednesday's 1-1 draw, the Spanish Super Cup will be decided at Camp Nou next Wednesday. Messi is expected to rejoin Barcelona, while Villa will once again try to lead his new team to a rare Super Cup win against Barcelona.
