Tottenham Hotspur will be matched-up against a tough Cardiff City FC side on Sunday in the English Premier League.

The Spurs were victorious against Tromsø on Thursday in the Europa League.

They dominated the game as evidenced by their total of 15 shots at goal as compared to Tromsø's - 2.

Jermaine Defoe, who is experiencing a dry spell in terms of scoring goals in the Premiership, finally made a breakthrough by scoring a brace against the Norwegian club.

"The first time I went through on goal I tried to go between his (the goalkeeper's) legs," Defoe told tottenhamhotspur.com.

"So for the next one, I waited for him to go down and I thought 'this time I'll dink it."

Despite losing star-midfielder Gareth Bale during the summer, the Spurs are finding a way to meet expectations.

They have been able to produce 9 points out of a possible 12 and sits at third place.

Midfielders Aaron Lennon (foot), and Etienne Capoue (ankle) are out due to injuries, while Nacer Chadli may return to action depending on the status of his thigh.

Meanwhile, Cardiff City is equally impressive, having won against powerhouse Manchester City FC and drawn against a tenacious Everton squad.

The Bluebirds returned to the top flight after a 51-year absence.

Craig Bellamy (knock) and goalkeeper David Marshall's (thigh) progress are still being monitored for Sunday's fixture.
