Chelsea FC will be going against Swiss titlist FC Basel on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League.

Jose Mourinho and the Blues will be playing a competitive Swiss side which has achieved unexpected successes in the Champions League in the past few years.

The Portuguese will be relying on elder statesman Frank Lampard, and skipper John Terry to lead the Blues.

Hopes were high at Stamford Bridge after Mourinho led the Blues to two straight victories against Hull City and Aston Villa.

However, they were not able to keep their momentum going as they drew with Manchested United and lost to Everton FC on Saturday.

Winger Eden Hazard knows that the match against Basel is crucial to the team's morale and is determined to come up with a victory.

"We have another game on Wednesday in the Champions League and we need to win because Chelsea is a big club and if we lose two games it's very bad for us,' Hazard told chelseafc.com.

'We need to work in training to help us win that game."

Mourinho has the privilege of selecting who he wants in his return to Europe as Blues manager.

On the other hand, Fabian Frei will lead the Swiss club following a senior call-up during the international break.

Basel has not failed to score in all of their games and is now sitting at third place in their domestic league

The RotBlau will be seeking vengeance for their 5-2 semi-finals loss against Chelsea, although it was then under the management of Rafael Benitez.

Chelsea went to clinch the UEFA Europa League Cup with a 2-1 victory against SL Benfica in Amsterdam.
