The only remaining undefeated team in the FIBA Asia Championship 2013 has fallen after Puerto Rico was smothered by a physical Dominican Republic team. With all remaining teams now with a loss on their card, the playoff picture has become more complicated than anybody expected.

Puerto Rico finally met their match on Friday as they succumbed to Dominican Republic in a very physically challenging match at Poliedro de Caracas in Venezuela. Carlos Arroyo recorded 20 points for the Puerto Rico, but it was not enough to outshine the double-double effort by Jack Michael Martinez (21 points and 11 rebounds).

Tristan Thompson had 20 boards while Chris Joseph added 14 points for Canada, who are in four-way logjam with Mexico, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Venezuela - all with 3-2 record.

On Saturday, all eight remaining teams are in for a crucial match as the battle for the semifinal berths officially began. Argentina (2-3) will try to stay alive against Uruguay (1-4) at 2:30 a.m, while Mexico (3-2) takes on Jamaica (1-4) at 11:30 p.m.

In the main double-header, Dominican Republic will gun for another win against Canada at 5:30 a.m while Puerto Rico will play host nation Venezuela at 8:00 a.m.
