The FIBA Americas Championship 2013 is now one full day of basketball action away from the semifinal round, which is scheduled on Tuesday. Yet, the do-or-die battle will officially begin this Sunday evening with Argentina, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela all gun for three remaining berths in the final four of the FIBA World Cup qualifier.

After nine days of elimination round competition, Puerto Rico punched its way to the semifinal round after pulling off one of the greatest comeback in FIBA Americas history. Down by double digits almost throughout the ball game, J.J Barea and Renaldo Balkman sparked a big fourth quarter rally to edge host nation Venezuela 86-85 on Saturday.

The win helped Puerto Rico sealed the top seed in the knockout stages while Venezuela will have to determine its fate in their make-or-break game against Jamaica at 8:30 A.M (Monday - Manila/Perth Time).

Another interesting do-or-die confrontation will be between Canada and Argentina (2:00 A.M). Both with identical 3-3 slate, the winner in this crucial battle will advance to the semis while the loser will likely need a miracle for them to live for another day.

Also fighting for their lives are Dominican Republic and Mexico. The Dominicans will have to beat Uruguay (11:30 p.m) to seal their place in the next round while Mexico must upset Puerto Rico (5:30 a.m) for them to progress.

For Uruguay and Jamaica, don't count them out because upset do happen. Watch out!
