Watch 'UFC 193: Rousey vs Holm Embedded' full episode: Ronda Rousey is 'Michael Jordan' of MMA, says Mark Wahlberg
UFC 193 has taken the company’s popular series “UFC Embedded” to a red carpet premiere on Fox after being typically played exclusively on YouTube.
Ronda Rousey, the women’s bantamweight champion, and No. 1 contender Holly Holm has been given plenty of buildups heading into their main event fight at UFC 193 in Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium on Nov. 14 (Nov. 15 AEDT). “UFC Embedded: Rousey vs Holm,” was also put on hype, airing it on Fox and Fox Sports 1.
The pre-fight web series is also loaded with cameos from Hollywood stars Mark Wahlberg, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Arnold Schwarzenegger, WWE’s Stephanie McMahon, and singer Demi Lovato. Wahlberg, who has been known as a fan of the sport, praised Rousey and described her as the “Michael Jordan” of MMA.
“She’s got that heart of a lion with the desire to be the best,” Wahlberg said. “She’s basically transcended the sport.”
UFC’s fight event in Australia is expected to draw a huge crowd and is poised to break the company’s own attendance record, which was set in Toronto’s Rogers Centre at UFC 192 with 55,724.
Meanwhile, women’s strawweight no. 1 contender Valerie Letourneau will not be cornered by fellow American Top Team product and suspended welterweight fighter Hector Lombard when she faces champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 193 co-main event.
This is due to the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) strictly enforcing the parametres laid out in UFC’s anti-doping program, where a fighter previously caught taking performance-enhancing drugs would be labeled “athlete support personnel.” Lombard was suspended one year after his last fight at UFC 182 against Josh Burkman for anabolic steroids.
"I don't care whatever he's going to put into his body - and I know what happened to him," Letourneau told MMA Junkie. "I'm never going to change with whom I train because they get caught with something, and that doesn't change them as a person, too."
