A few days after Marvel Studios released the trailer of Captain America for 2014, 20th Century Fox then debuted the trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past, which features new and old X-actor faces. It induces quite a bit of cultural vertigo as it weaves through the X-Men history over the past half-century.

Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine for the seventh time, looking a little grey like a direct replication of the original Days of Future past comic book character. Meanwhile, Halle Berry is back as Storm, who might sacrifice herself and potentially resurrect for a sequel in the end. Patrick Stewart also comes back as Charles Xavier. Professor X gets a glimpse of the past and introduces Shawn Ashmore as Iceman and Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde. Anna Paquin plays Rogue, looking all stern while Ian McKellan seems to have more fun as Magneto.

The Last Standoff left a dead Professor X and a powerless Magneto but its epilogues gave a hint that Professor X wasn't really dead and Magneto would eventually get his powers back. Magneto seems to run a tight crew and most notable of which is Bishop, who was a mutant policeman that traveled back from the future to save the X-Men from disaster. Omar Sy looks energetic and cool for his role.

Other appearances include Sunspot who has the solar power to absorb and redirect power, Warpath or Thunderbird (Booboo Stewart) who's a Native American with a genetic-hero mix of superspeed, superstrength and superstamina, and Blink who has the weaponized teleportation power.

Magneto and Professor X are side by side to end the war. The plan focuses on Wolverine waking up in his younger body to find Professor X. Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique sheds a single tear and then the young Professor X returns to the X-Mansion to dust off the Cerebro. There are two different timelines such as the future that looks apocalyptic and a past that doesn't look better anyway. Wolverine needs to travel back in time to lead and guide Professor X, which can be difficult for someone who lost everything and believed in nothing in the past.

Can X-Men achieve new glories and hope for triumph in the face of a bleak destiny?
