'Wayward Pines' season 2 episode 1 recap and review: The First Generation reveals its power to Theo Yedlin in ‘Enemy Lines’
Next episode original air date on FOX: June 1, 2016
“Wayward Pines” Season 2 Episode 1 recently returned to TV and the episode was already jam-packed with action and plot twists. The first episode is titled “Enemy Lines.”
The episode started innocently when a man named Theo and his wife Rebecca were on vacation. He and his wife had a heated argument, leading him to drink a lot and get drunk. This came to the point where he was kidnapped from the hotel lobby.
Later on, he woke up thinking he is having a hangover. In reality, he was stuffed at the back of a car and brought to Wayward Pines. From Season 1, we know that Wayward Pines is where the only surviving humans on Earth live. It has been taken over by vicious and devolved versions of humans called “Abbies.” The year is 4032 and the First Generation, a fascist group of youngsters, have taken control of the town.
Theo managed to get himself out of the car but still ended up in the hands of First Generation’s leader Jason. Jason talks him down saying that the town is involved in a secret government experiment looking into the psychological effects of war trauma. Because of the death of their previous doctor, they want to make use of Theo as the new doctor.
Theo ended up operating on Kate Ballinger, Season 1’s toy shop-running heroine, who is part of the resistance group. As Theo walked around the hospital, he found cues to disprove the lie that Jason told him, especially when he saw some people in rooms getting tortured. Theo also found information from Kate’s handcuffed wrist.
On the other side of town, Ben is leading a rebellion. He talks to Xander, who plays a double agent on both sides.
Theo was brought back to the hotel and got reunited with Rebecca. He then found Theo and warned him not to go near the commotion at the lobby, but Theo did not listen and still watched what was happening. It was Jason presenting the newly caught rebels. Theo got a sample off Jason’s wrath when he executed the rebels in front of the people.
Jason talked to Theo and invited him to go up the mountain to chat about the town. He tosses Theo, Xander and Ben in a truck and left them in the mountain with the Abbies. Meanwhile, Kate was still being questioned in the hospital. She emphasized that there is no way she is joining the First Generation. Then, impulsively, she cuts her own throat.
“Wayward Pines” season 2 episode 2, titled “Blood Harvest,” airs on June 1. It also airs on Foxtel in Australia.
