Original air date on FOX; May 25, 2016
A new trailer for “Wayward Pines” Season 2 was recently released, showing how the First Generation thinks very highly of David Pilcher. The First Generation, who currently runs the town, appears to do everything to keep Pilcher’s legacy intact. Jason Higgins (Tom Stevens) currently heads the First Generation who aims to maintain the vision and practices of the town.
At the start of the video, titled “The Pageant,” several young students of Wayward Pines Academy joined a play inspired by the charismatic founder of the town. The creepy musical featured young children wearing their respective costumes and singing about the start of a new future and world in Wayward Pines. Pilcher’s face was displayed on the fake moon in the backdrop.
The promo clip also showcased a glimpse of Kate (Carla Gugino) being handcuffed to her bed as she is prepared for a seemingly painful and traumatizing experiment. Dr. Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) was also shown in the video, continuing to unravel some of the mysterious surrounding the town. He also came across one of the dangerous abbies.
Megan Fisher (Hope Davis) brought a dead abbie in class to educate her young students about the creature. The children will also get to watch a special experiment done by individuals known as the professionals. Davis was revealed to become a series regular.
The video also showed CJ Mitchum (Djimon Hounsou) killing an abbie with a flamethrower. Ben Burke (Charlie Tahan) was going through a field believed to be occupied by abbies.
Showrunner Blake Crouch said that more revelations about the abbies will be featured in the second season. The town residents will also have to deal with the fact that they are living within the abbies’ premises. There will expectedly be more mysteries, thrilling scenes and dangerous situations in the new season.
The season premiere, "Enemy Lines,” will immediately pick up the events after the Season 1 finale. Hounsou will have a particularly special role in the new season, as he connects the past and present world of Wayward Pines.
“Wayward Pines” Season 2 will launch on May 25 on FOX. It will also air on FX in Australia. More updates and details are expected soon.
