Fans of “Wayward Pines” may be excited to know that there might be a Season 2. Director M. Night Shyamalan revealed that he might do a follow-up of it.

Shyamalan said that he worked on “Wayward Pines” on FOX and “The Visit” in the same year. “Wayward Pines” turned out to be the top scripted show of the summer and was a giant hit. People started asking him whether there would be a second season.

The director added that he had been talking with the author and that he needs to know the ending first. He said that he is working with the writers and if he can think of an end to the story and work backwards, then he will do the project. Shyamalan said that in TV, he needs to know if there is an end point, based on a report by Fox 5 .

The last episode of “Wayward Pines” Season One ended on July 23. Fans have been asking for a second season since.

In the show’s Season 1 finale, Ethan’s son, Ben Burke (Charlie Tahan), woke up from his three-year coma. The town was just like the one that his father, Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) woke up in. Ethan died at the end of the first season. “Wayward Pines” is a town where every resident was being monitored and controlled since they were the last humans left in a world full of aberrations or “abbies.” “Abbies” are carnivore mutants that dominate the present Earth, Crossmap writes. The first season was comprised of 10 episodes.

After the end of Season 1, Shyamalan said that even with the huge success of the show, if there was no more story to tell, they would not proceed with a follow-up. Chad Hodge, developer and executive producer of “Wayward Pines” also previously stated that there is no more second season.

At the moment, the possibility of a “Wayward Pines” Season 2 may largely depend on author Blake Crouch. He might pick a few more stories to unveil that would warrant a second season and bring fans back.
