Season 2 of “Wayward Pines” is currently in development. A number of new cast members were announced to appear in the psychological thriller.

Deadline reveals that actresses Kacey Rohl ("Hannibal") and Nimrat Kaur ("Homeland") will join Djimon Hounsou and Jason Patric as co-stars in the next season of “Wayward Pines.”

Rohl will take on the role of Kerry Campbell, who is a tough and unyielding member of the new town brain trust. Kaur will take on the role of Rebecca, a successful architect and the wife of main protagonist Dr. Theo Yedlin.

Rohl is represented by Gersh and Russ Mortensen at Pacific Artists Management. Kaur is represented by D2 Management and Conway van Gelder Grant.

“Wayward Pines” is inspired by the bestselling book series by author Blake Crouch. M. Night Shyamalan will serve as executive producer of the second season, which will still be comprised of 10 episodes, similar to Season 1. The plot will continue the final events in the first season, where the residents of Wayward Pines will rise up against the firm and solid rule of the First Generation.

Patric will take on the role Dr. Theo Yedlin, a new resident of the town who awakens from suspended animation to discover that a huge rebellion is brewing. Similar to the main protagonist in the first season, Yedlin will try to unravel the secrets of Wayward Pines and help save the endangered human race.

Variety notes that Hounsou is best known for starring in “Blood Diamond” with Leonardo DiCaprio, where he garnered an Oscar nomination. He will play CJ Mitchum, an original town resident and town historian with vast knowledge about its sophisticated past. Mitchum will have a significant role in linking the current environment of Wayward Pines and the old world where humans were not so endangered. Mitchum will make a crucial decision that will impact the destiny of all town residents.

Donald De Line, Blake Crouch and Ashwin Rajan will also join Shyamalan as executive producers. Mark Friedman will be the new showrunner and also serve as executive producer.

“Wayward Pines” Season 2 is set to launch later in 2016. It airs on FX in Australia. More updates and details are expected soon.
