WBC Opposes Steve Jobs’ Wake and Funeral
Westboro Baptist Church's top member Margie J. Phelps tweeted, "Westboro will picket his funeral. He had a huge platform; gave God no glory & taught sin."
This is followed by another tweet, "God remembers he taught his neighbor to sin."
The church is quite well-known with their firm stand against gays and lesbians and their opposition to the funerals of US soldiers. The group is popular with their signage such as "God hates you," "America is doomed," and "You're going to hell," which they held up high when they are protesting against the funerals of American soldiers and few celebrities.
The Westboro Baptist Church is one of the most despised groups in the US. However, the Supreme Court has upheld their right to protest at these events, saying that their free speech rights cannot be restricted simply because their speech is unpopular or even despicable.
It is said that Westboro Baptist Church is known to get the media's attention whenever they can.
It is such an irony is that Phelps tweeted using her iPhone, one of the predominant products of Apple, Inc.
On the other hand, Steve Jobs' death is the top trending topic in Twitter. Moreover, millions of tweets were posted in relation to Steve Jobs.
Steve Jobs is known to adhere the teachings of Buddhism.
