The Walking Dead is a television series airing on AMC that chronicles the actions of County Sheriff's Deputy Rick Grimes played by Andrew Lincoln as he leads a band of survivors after a pandemic has turned the population into zombies.

The series was adapted for television by Frank Darabont of "The Shawshank Redemption" from the "Image" comic book series. Promoting their second season, the cast of AMC's "The Walking Dead" were at New York ComicCon. Now with nearly twenty episodes of zombie killing under their post-apocalyptic utility belts, the cast reveals their personal weapons of choice.

Laurie Holden, also known as Andrea, uses a gun which is the loudest weapon. Last season, Andrea dealt with watching her sister die and reawaken as a zombie before shooting her in the head with a pistol. Maybe familiarity is the reason why Laurie chose this option.

However, shooting a zombie in the middle of the woods is one thing since a gun is far too loud for a weapon to areas with a high zombie concentration such as "The Walking Dead's Atlanta.

Shane, portrayed by Jon Bernthal prefers a crossbow. As a former cop, fans are more used to seeing Shane cocking a shotgun or other macho firearms but the crossbow is quite a smart choice. The weapon is silent, deadly and definitely a fan favorite. Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, chooses the flamethrower.

Surprisingly, he went to another route altogether with his spectacular and hi-tech weapon of choice. This species of zombie is certainly vulnerable to fire and lucky for him this is not "Return of the Living Dead" or else flames would merely spread the infection.

Steven Yeun, also known as Glenn, chooses a bo staff. Notwithstanding martial arts stereotyping, it is an interesting choice of weapon. It is silent and smart for an errant zombie but it can surely be a labor-intensive for the less than bulked-up scavenger Glenn.

Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, uses a bladed boomerang which can be considered as the best weapon. Newcomer Maggie Greene has probably the most novel suggestion of the bunch but one has got to have some pretty good aim to slice off zombie heads.
