While some would certainly feel this is old news, especially since there were speculations as early as 2007, celebrities and ordinary netizens expressed their disbelief and support for the hunk protagonist of Prison Break, Wentworth Miller aka Scofield. Some of the tweets are shown below. Ellen Degeneres for one, showed her heartfelt support for the actor, especially in condemning Russia's discriminatory law.

I'm proud of Wentworth Miller for speaking out in support of equality. Russia doesn't know what they're missing.

Wentworth miller was too pretty to be straight anyway — Asmaa (@aDawodd) August 22, 2013

wentworth miller coming out as gay makes the plot of him wanting breaking out of prison hard to believe — Tom Hughes (@tomahughes) August 22, 2013

While the reactions are understandable, and funnily accurate for what majority of the girls are feeling (dashed hopes, lost dreams), Wentworth Miller can find solace in the fact that his coming out was not received in bad taste in general. Way to go in how he handled the Russia's invitation. While that probably would not put a dent on Russia's anti-gay plans, at least by putting himself out there like that (Literally!), some people would understand the plight of LGBT in Russia and across the world.

Below is a video of Wentworth Miller wanting to be a cheerleader in the hit TV series, Popular. He has got to be a pretty secure guy to want this role. So maybe this was already a hint of his sexuality even before playing the manly Scofield in Prison Break:
