‘Westworld’ season 2 is chaos according to co-creator Jonathan Nolan
Although “Westworld” season 2 is not arriving in the small screens until 2018, co-creator Jonathan Nolan has been generous in providing hints about the next instalment. Nolan has described the first season as something that was defined by control. He told IGN that the next season will be defined by chaos.
“Westworld” season 2 is also expected to answer the biggest question of fans, which is what Ford's true motives could be. Nolan promised that the sophomore season of the show will centre on Ford's plans and intentions.
“Ford has set in motion what he thinks is a plan. The nature of that plan is something we explore in the second season,” Nolan said. Since the finale episode of “Westworld” season 1 has been aired, viewers were left wondering if Ford plans to let Dolores or the other hosts escape.
Fans can recall that Dolores has already reached the centre of the maze. She finally realised that the voice in her head was her own. However, it was not made clear in “Westworld” season 1 if she is only acting on Ford's direction.
Other major host characters are also dealing with the same case, particularly Maeve (Thandie Newton). It will be interesting to see what’s to come for the hosts now that they seem to have achieved consciousness.
Evan Rachel Wood has something to say about her character, Dolores. She has reflected on the role she plays, saying if Dolores is the oldest, it means she has seen three lifetimes of pain and trauma. “I would think there would be only so much one can take, whether you're human or not,” Wood said.
“Westworld” season 1 started airing in Australia on Oct. 3 through Foxtel. The series aired in the US and the UK through HBO. The official release date for “Westworld” season 2 is yet to be confirmed.
