“Westworld” actress Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores) has shared that she once felt broken and unlovable. She said there was a time when she did not think she would face another morning.

“There was a time, despite what it may have looked like on the surface, that the fear had gripped me so tight, and I felt broken and unlovable,” the "Westworld" star said during a gala dinner in which she accepted a Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award earlier this month. She said she did not think that she would see another tomorrow.

The 29-year-old actress has further described how she felt, admitting that there were "inconsistencies" in her feelings. She said as a child, she was attracted to women. But she has buried the attraction towards the same sex in response to frequent anti-gay hate speech around her.

Wood has been transparent about her identity despite being in the spotlight. In 2012, the actress has let the public know that she herself is a bisexual. She has taken to Twitter to share how she felt. “I myself am bisexual and have always 'joked' about Miley giving me gay vibes. Not a bad thing! Just an observation,” she wrote.

Last year, Wood even shared to the public that she was raped and that she continued to live with the trauma. “It will remind people of the damage that has been done and how the trauma of a few minutes can turn into a lifetime of fighting for yourself,” the actress wrote on Twitter.

The “Westworld” lead star believes that speaking up is the best thing to do, as it is also her responsibility as an artist. Wood is not one who would remain silent and keep her feelings to herself. “I choose to reflect the times and situations in which I find myself,” Wood said, quoting late singer and civil rights activist Nina Simone.

In “Westworld” season 1, Wood has portrayed Dolores, the oldest host in the park who killed Dr Robert Ford (played by Anthony Hopkins), which some fans consider as a demonstration of her free will as a host. As the oldest host, Dolores has been updated multiple times. The character has recently become "self-aware" and has questioned her reality. The actress has won Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Dolores in “Westworld” season 1.

It is expected that Westworld” season 2 will see more of Dolores. Official air date of the upcoming instalment is yet to be officially announced.
