Online dating helps you to fix your date, but it has also shown at what age a man and woman pull each other optimally, like magnets! Christian Rudder, the man behind Ok Cupid, an online dating site, has put up some interesting graphs that reveal how, and at what age humans are attracted to each other.

According to Fivethirtyeight, Rudder said that "women who are, say, 28, find guys who are also 28 about the most attractive, and so forth. Up until about 40, when that's getting too old." So much analysis has made Rudder has actually become a "dating laureate for the data age". He took a simple step---just by putting together clicks and keystrokes and analysing them in depth in an Excel sheet, he managed to become a predictor of human behaviour----or almost, according to Joe.ie

In 2012, he decided to bring out a book based on a blog that he was writing. When he proposed it, Crown jumped to publish it with a seven-figure quotation. The book arrives on Tuesday, bearing the kind of Gladwellian title - "Dataclysm: Who We Are When We Think No One's Looking", that tells the readers what a Big Idea is all about.

His graphs show that men and women do not think alike, when they need to date. While women seem to be attracted to men near their own age, it is the opposite for men. Hence, a 20-year-old woman is lured by a 20-year-old man, a 35-year-old woman gets attracted to a 36-year-old and a 50-year-old likes a 46-year-old best. On the other hand, the rules are reversed for a man looking out for a woman. No matter what his age, he is attracted best by a 20-year-old, or, at the most, 22-year-old.

As you can see, it is fairly unfair. Women to men look best at the age of 20, take or leave one or two years here and there! As Rudder put it: "From the time you're 22 you'll be less hot than a 20-year-old, based on this data. So that's just a thing." From his blog and links you can find out how he arrived at his clues and conclusions. This isn't really pretty, but he claims that it is science---of a kind!
