Former Australian Idol judge Jay Dee Springbett was found dead Thursday in his apartment in Sydney's eastern suburbs. Friends and colleagues were shocked at the death of the former Sony Music executive. The cause of death has not yet been established though the police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Here's a time-line, including detailed facts for the last seven days, of Jay Dee:

2004. The U.K. native moved to Australia in 2004. Springbett began performed as a singer in London nightclubs in his youth but later became director for artist and repertoire (A&R) at Sony. He moved to Sydney to take the role as senior director of A&R for Sony's Australian division. Springbett was instrumental in the careers of new artists Jessica Mauboy, Stan Walker, Amy Pearson, Rogue Traders, Human Nature, Guy Sebastian, Cassie Davis, and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

2009. Jay Dee joined Australian Idol for the seventh season in 2009. He joined Marcia Hines and Ian "Dicko" Dickson as Idol judge, replacing Kyle Sandilands. Sandilands, a 2DayFM breakfast announcer, was sacked as judge after he had a 14 year old girl strapped to a lie detector and she admitted being raped at the age of 12, to which Kyle replied with "Right ... is that the only experience you've had?" Jay Dee was known on the Ten Network show as the "Mr. Nice guy" but was criticized for playing safe and being too bland. In that season, Stan Walker, who went on to become a popular artist, won in the November 2009 finale against Hayley Warner. Since then, Idol has not returned on air.

April-August 2010. Jay Dee was reportedly on "trial separation with publicist Louise McCole, with whom he has two daughters. Jay Dee's demanding work schedule, frequent travel, party-boy ways, and alleged affairs with many of his female performers apparently caused the break-up. Louise denied that they were breaking up. But in August the two confirmed that they were on splits-ville. They reportedly patched things up later.

November 2010. Springbett was involved in a brawl outside his Sydney office. A former flatmate entered Sony Music's Darlinghurst headquarters and confronted Jay Dee over a personal issue. After Jay Dee ushered the man out into the street, the brawl ensued.

March 2011. He was romantically linked to Mauboy after they were spotted together at a Rihanna concert. Kyle Sandilands sparked the rumors in his own radio show. Mauboy's manager David Champion denied Jay Dee was dating with the 22-year old singer.Mauboy was a runner-up on the fourth season of Australian Idol.

Early 2011. Springbett split again with partner Louise McCole. He later bought a gun and joined a recreational gun club, according to the Herald.

June 2011. He lost his job as senior director of A&R of Sony due to "redundancy". Some top-tier execs. were lost on a restructuring at Sony BMG three months before, in March. From a full-time exec., Jay Dee will be on an external label and artist management deal with Sony.

Monday, June 27. Springbett joined an executive meeting at Sony. Sony boss Denis Handlin said Springbett was "in great form". On Monday night, Jay Dee Springbett celebrated his 36th birthday at a dinner prepared by his two young daughters and their mother Louisa McCole. He was greeted by 'Happy birthday daddy' streamers and messages in Louise's house. McCole told the Sydney Morning Herald that she and Jay Dee agreed that night to "start afresh". They were thinking of moving back to Britain or North Queensland.

Tuesday, June 28. McCole said he spoke on the phone with Springbett to talk about a two-week vacation for four in Queensland on July 20, after he'd left Sony.

Wednesday, June 29. Sandilands said he spoke with Springbett near a Sienna Marina restaurant. During the day, McCole, and his best friend Ian, tried calling Jay Dee but the messages were going through voice-mail. Jay Dee failed to pick up the kids from Louise later in the evening. "A lot of people thought that, because he took my spot on Idol, we didn't get on. But I've known him for many, many years and it was shocking to hear that today," Sandillands said in his radio show, after news of Jay Dee's death came out.

Thursday, June 30. Jay Dee failed to return phone calls from the office, according to Sony boss Handlin. He did not show up at lunch with Handlin and a visiting international producer. Staff at Sony reported him missing and called emergency services as according to Handlin, "it's really not like [Jay Dee not answering the phone]." Police and paramedics found Jay Dee unconscious on the couch in his apartment at Woolloomooloo, in eastern Sydney about 3.30 p.m. Two stubbies of beer and prescription drugs were nearby. Paramedics declared Springbett "deceased on examination". Louise ran to Jay Dee's flat and was informed by police outside the apartment that her partner was already dead. Her Facebook status on Thursday night said, "heartbroken." McCole doesn't believe Jay Dee committed suicide and noted that he had a heart problem, which "periodically gave him trouble." McCole suggested Jay Dee could have suffered a heart attack after putting up a new 61-cm television.

Sunday, July 3. McCole met with Sony chief Handlin to talk about Jay Dee's funeral and a foundation named in his honour.

Monday, July 4. Jay Dee's daughter Jasmin turns 4 years old on Monday. His second daughter with Louise, Marley is 2. Sony, as well as the stars he helped develop, is putting up a trust fund for his daughters, according to the Herald Sun. Sony's Denis Handlin plans to organise a benefit concert for Jay Dee's two young kids. Mauboy has dedicated her latest song, Inescapable, to Springbett.

New South Wales Police ruled out foul play though they did not provide additional details. A coroner has yet to determine the official cause of death. NSW Police are awaiting toxicology results.

IBTimes Australia joins many others in offering the deepest sympathies to Jay Dee's friends and family.
