What Kind of Advice did Lorde Ask from Taylor Swift?
It turns out that Lorde and Taylor Swift has kept in touch after hanging out in Australia last December.
In the latest issue of Rolling Stone, the Kiwi songstress revealed that she and the pop-country singer are texting each other, and even turned to the latter for some advice.
It happened one time when Lorde, or Ella Yellich-O'Connor was having a hard time choosing between a hand-shaped brass bowl and a 'minimalist globe table lamp' intended as a Christmas present for her manager. She then turns to Swift for advice.
"Taylor's super-good at this stuff," says the 'Royals' singer to Rolling Stone's Rob Tannenbaum. "She's decorated her own houses for ages."
News of the Lorde-Taylor Swift bond first broke out when the two were spotted at a Japanese restaurant in Melbourne just a few hours shy of Taylor's 24th birthday. The next day, Taylor held a garden-themed party, also in Melbourne, where Lorde was one of her guests.
At that time, Taylor was Down Under for the Australian leg of her 'Red' tour, while Lorde had her first Australian TV appearance via her performance in the 27th ARIA Awards.
Lorde dishes further to Tannenbaum about her moments with Taylor, including the roses the latter gave to the former when 'Royals' nabbed the top spot in the charts.
"I was floored," recalls Lorde.
She has previously dissed the 'I Knew You Were Trouble' singer for being 'too perfect.' But when Taylor found out about this, "She was like, 'It's fine. If all you've done is call someone perfect, it's not that bad.'"
Looks like Lorde's diss was not so bad for Taylor to turn into another hit song.
Both Taylor Swift and Lorde have been nominated for the Grammy Awards, happening on Jan. 27, Australian Time. The former was nominated for Album of the Year and three other awards under the Country category, while the latter is nominated for Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
