Fans might need some getting used to in seeing Kristen Stewart transferred from the rural town of Forks to the future cityscape of Neo-Tokyo.

The "Twilight" star is reportedly being eyed by producers for the live action Hollywood remake of the Japanese anime classic "Akira."

"The futuristic film, directed by Jaume Collet-Sera, is currently lining up the main characters," reports Hit Fix on Collet-Sera's lineup of actors.

Akira is a 1988 Japanese animated sci-fi film that has become quite popular as a cult film. It is also much considered as a huge landmark in Japanese animation as well as filmmaking.

" Stewart is being offered the role of Kei, a freedom fighter who gets involved with motorcycle hooligans Kaneda and Tetsuo after the latter is captured by the military who wish to contain/exploit his psychokinetic powers. Garret Hedlund has been offered the role of Kaneda, who develops a romance with Kei." Hit Fix continued.

Stewart is best known for her role as Bella Swan in the "Twilight" Saga, but she has also garnered nods from her numerous films such as "Panic Room" and "into the Wild." "Akira" will be one of her three sci-fi movies, including "Zathura: A Space Adventure" and "Jumper," where she starred in a cameo role.

If Stewart does become the lead female character, Twitch reports that she will be joining the star-studded cast of British acting greats such as Helena Bonham-Carter and Gary Oldman. It should be noted that both were part of the recently concluded Harry Potter franchise.

All leading ladies should have their main man, and in this cyberpunk dystopian future, Stewart will be partnered with Garrett Hedlund, best known for his role in another sci-fi epic, "Tron: Legacy."

Garrett Hedlund first starred alongside Brad Pitt as Patroclus in "Troy," which was his first acting role. He then starred in the football film "Friday Night Lights." His biggest role to date is in "Tron: Legacy," a sequel to the 1982 cult classic "Tron," which he starred as Sam Flynn, the son of Jeff Bridges' character, Kevin Flynn.

"Akira" might not go into production until late next year, so fans of Kristen Stewart can feast their eyes on her upcoming flick, " Snow White and the Huntsman."
