Apple announced last month at the 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference its plans on releasing another Macbook Air. The popular thin and light notebook will be running on Intel Haswell offering people the promise that the latest Macbook Air will have a great internal upgrade.

Despite Haswell's focus on extending battery life rather than computing performance, the refreshed version of the 11-inch and 13-inch Macbook air promise a lot. Reports suggest that aside from the Haswell upgrade, Apple will be including a Retina Display Line for the Macbook Pro. Later in the year, Apple is also planning to include the new OS X Mavericks platform.

Refreshed versions are set to go out in October. With only three months left before the release of the Retina Macbook Pro, a number of Windows OEMs are competing for that part of the market that will not give in to Apple's latest offering. Some are even trying to take advantage of the time left to convince consumers to make the shift.

The Sony Vaio Pro is one of the biggest competitors for Macbook Pro. It runs on Intel's Haswell and features a Full HD 13.3-inch touchscreen display. It offers up to 8GB of RAM. Weighing only 2.9 pounds including the power supply, Sony Vaio Pro comes in a slim and light design.

Samsung will not let Apple take all the cake. They are also challenging the tech giant with their Macbook Pro-like offering. The ATIV Book runs on Haswell and has a Full HD display offering 13.3 inches, 3200 x 1800 resolution. Samsung ships Windows 8 versions of the ATIV Book. Users can add up to 256 GB of storage. Battery life extends up to 12 hours.

Lenovo is joining the pack after they announced the ThinkPad T440S. The company called the device as the "ultimate business Ultrabook." Reported specifications include 14-inch, 1920 x 1080 IPS LCD touchscreen, NFC support and 729p web camera. It is only a matter of time before all products hit stores and competition becomes even stiffer.
