Where to Watch NBA Online: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Trends and Game Preview
Can the Lakers Pull Off Another Surprise?
After a surprising upset victory in their first game, the Los Angeles Lakers aim for back-to-back wins to start the 2013-14 NBA regular season when they take on the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.
The major story on NBA Opening Night wasn’t the Miami Heat’s victory over the comebacking Derrick Rose nor was it about the Indiana Pacers easy win over the Orlando Magic. Rather, it was about the battle of Los Angeles where the short-handed Lakers beat the highly favoured Clippers, 116-103.
The Lakers’ bench finished with 76 points, outscoring the Clippers’ starters (69 points) and their own starters who could only muster 40 points.
The Lakers’ first five combined to shoot 12-of-33 (36.3 per cent) from the field. It was reserve guard Xavier Henry who stepped up to the plate logging in a career-high 22 points (8/13 FGs, 3/4 3FGs) and added 6 rebounds as well. Four other bench players scored in double-figures, including Jordan Farmar (16 points) and Jodie Meeks (13 points).
They’ll need the same bench contribution against the Warriors which want to show off their new weapon in Andre Iguodala who was acquired in free agency during the summer.
Iguodala, an all-around player who has career averages of 15.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 5.4 APG and 1.7 SPG, joins star point guard Stephen Curry and power forward David Lee in the Warriors’ starting line-up.
Curry broke the all-time record for most three-pointers in a regular season, hitting 272 shots from beyond the arc in the 2012-13 NBA regular season. The 25-year-old superstar hopes to duplicate or even better the feat as he tries to lead the squad to another postseason appearance for 2013.
Lee averaged 18.5 PPG and 11.2 RPG in his third year with the Warriors.
