The relationship between Neal and his mentor and surrogate father, Peter, crumbled in episode 9, "No Good Deed" of "White Collar" Season 5. Neal finally confessed to Peter that he stole the rare Welsh gold coins to ensure that Peter comes out of the prison, without any indictment stain. Neal believes that what he did was because Peter is his friend. However, Peter is not on the same page. He tells Neal that, what he did was because he is a criminal and that is what criminals do.

Neal has broken Peter's trust and it might be irreparable if Peter comes to know what else Neal has done, including his pact with Curtis Hagen. Peter has no idea that Neal made a deal with Curtis Hagen to see that Peter is out of his orange jumpsuit. Also, Neal stole the evidence against Curtis Hagen from the evidence room under the watch of Peter. Curtis Hagen will be back in episode 10, "Live Feed," probably for the final battle with Neal.

Neal can be seen telling Mozzie in the preview video, "It all started with Hagen and today it ends with him." However, it is not going to be an easy end, as Hagen shows Neal a clip of Rebecca in a dishevelled state. He has tied and gagged her mouth. Hagen can be seen warning Neal that if he tells the FBI, Rebecca is dead. There is a twist in the episode that according to the preview video, you did not see it coming. Perhaps, the twist is Rebecca is an accomplice of Curtis Hagen. Rebecca is a rare book expert but she took to Neal's world of crime like fish to water. It might look like Neal attracted her attention, but it is highly possible that she made it look like that. The preview video shows Neal in complete shock.

The Season 5 of "White Collar" consists of only 13 episodes. The new episode, "Live Feed" is scheduled to air on January 09, 2014.
