The first episode of "White Collar" Season 5 put Peter out of prison. In the second episode, Neal got a new handler as Peter took over a bigger responsibility as ASAC of "White Collar" division. The third episode put Peter behind the desk, while Neal and Agent Siegel went for a stakeout.

As we saw in the previous episode of "White Collar," Peter missed the action and wanted to be part of the stakeout. The new responsibility, however, stopped him from teaming up with Neal and Agent Siegel. At the end of episode 3, someone shot Agent Siegel dead. Neal is without a handler and Peter does not want to be confined to the office, and as a result the original team is back in action.

"White Collar" majorly works because of Neal and Peter's bromance. The two out in the field, working together to stop a heist or solve a case is what makes "White Collar" an enjoyable watch. In the episode 4, "Controlling Interest," Peter has a new assignment for Neal. In the sneak peek, one can hear Peter saying to Neal: "We're going back to work."

Neal: "We! Peter you don't have to do that for me."

Peter: "I'm ASAC. I make decision around here, and I have decided that I'm going to actively pursue investigation. That is what we do."

That is what Peter and Neal do, too and with Neal up to some con mischief. Neal considers the new case boring and pretends to snore when Peter gets to tell him the details about the new assignment. But, he does not have the right to choose the case. Peter has the power to choose and he considers the new case a good case. In another sneak peek, Peter is finding that the detail related to a stash of cash is turning stranger by the minute.

The new episode of "White Collar," "Controlling Interest," will also deal with the murder of Agent Siegel, with Peter wanting to know what Neal is hiding from him.
