White House State Dinner: Michelle Obama Dons Tadashi Shoji While Ciara Stuns In Walter Mendez
First lady Michelle Obama again stunned in a purple gown at the White House State Dinner hosted in honour of Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe and his wife Akie Abe on April 28. This time too, the fashionable FLOTUS chose an ensemble by a Japanese designer. Michelle, known for her sense of style, looked stunning in her designer ensemble, according to People.
Her choice of ensemble points to the fact that she doesn’t just love bold prints but also likes bold colours as well. Michelle paid tribute to her guests of honour by donning an elegant full-skirted tulle gown by Japanese-born designer Tadashi Shoji. Meanwhile, president Barack Obama looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie.
The sleeveless number from the designer’s Fall 2015 collection [look 65] featured an empire waistline and floor-grazing chiffon pleats, while having delicate applique detailing on the bodice [Check The Picture Here]. Earlier in the day Michelle opted for a sunrise printed scuba coat and a matching dress by Monique Lhuillier. She paired her dress with metallic pumps. She wore a Tadashi Shoji dress for her visit to Great Falls Elementary School in Great Falls, Virginia. The floral chiffon long sleeve dress is from the designer’s cocktail dresses collection. Meanwhile, the event was also attended by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and R&B singer Ciara. Wilson was attending his first state dinner and looked dapper in a slim black tuxedo and Ciara slayed it in a liquid champagne-hued gown by Walter Mendez. The halter neck ‘Nora Gown’ in mermaid silhouette is available in the website in green velvet.
It was the couple’s first public appearance together and they brought in some A-list oomph factor into the dinner with their red carpet styles. Besides, the multiplatinum selling singer packed in some PDA moments with Russell while walking hand in hand and posing for photographs. The State Dinner night was a date night for the Grammy Award winner. This was the second time that the footballer dined at the White House in three days. He attended the 2015 White House Correspondents Dinner with his grandmother on April 25.
