Singer, Whitney Houston, died at the age of 48 and the cause of her death is still confusing. The initial information came from a publicist or a spokesperson for Houston, Kristen Foster, who confirmed the death of Houston.

Whitney Houston's name skyrocketed to stardom because of her ability to sing up to five-octave voice range.

The latest toxicology reports assert that Whitney's cause of death is from a mix of prescription drugs and alcohol.

According to TMZ reports, prescription drugs were found in the hotel room but no illegal drugs have been discovered in the Beverly Hills hotel room where Whitney Houston was found dead.

"Informed sources tell us that Beverly Hills cops, who were still searching the room at the time this story was posted, found various pill bottles. There was no evidence that Whitney was drinking alcohol in the room," TMZ shared.

It is believed that Houston's body was removed from the bathtub before emergency workers arrived at her hotel room. The police said that emergency services were called to the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills by a member of the star's entourage.

Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.

Houston ruled as the music's ultimate diva until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown. By the end of her career, Houston became a stunning cautionary tale of the toll to drug use.

Her album sales plummeted and the hits stopped coming. Her once serene image was shattered by a wild demeanor and bizarre public appearances. Houston confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills. Then, her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, being unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime.

"The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy,'' Houston told ABC's Diane Sawyer in a 2002 interview, with then-husband Brown, by her side. It was a tragic fall for a superstar who was one of the top-selling artists in music history with more than 55 million records sold in the United States alone.

She seemed to be born into greatness, the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of 1960's pop diva Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin.

Houston first started singing in the church as a child. In her teens, she sang back up for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and others as addition to her modeling career. Whitney Houston's life is full of controversy especially during the time when she became a user of illegal drugs.

Houston started her singing career in the 1980′s, until the late 90′s and still continued to be the best-selling artist with album sales. Her songs are popular such as "I Will Always Love You," "Waiting to Exhale" and "I Have Nothing." Whitney Houston became an inspiration to many young singers such from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey.
