Whitney Houston’s Funeral Expected to Be a Musical Service for Broadcast
The funeral of late music icon Whitney Houston will be broadcast Saturday from her childhood New Jersey church. It is where the singer started her lifetime craft as part of its choir.
According to Carolyn Whigham, owner of the Newark, N.J., funeral home where the wake will happen, Houston's publicist said only one person will be permitted to stream video.
A huge screen will be set up right outside New Hope Baptist Church for the public to witness the rites. This feed shall be made available too on television along with online channels.
Fans from all over are waiting for the final results of the autopsy that may still take several more weeks. This long wait triggers more speculations rising especially with the current rumours that she may have died from the dangerous mixing of alcohol and prescription drugs.
Expect Big Names During Houston's Funeral
Stevie Wonder is just one of the big names that you can expect to sing during the funeral of Whitney Houston. Other confirmed invitations according to publicist Kristen Foster include that of Aretha Franklin, ex-hubby Bobby Brown, Houston's leading man in the 'Bodyguard' film, Kevin Costner, and Oprah Winfrey.
Clive Davis, who is known to be the musical mentor of Houston, will be speaking during the funeral and the eulogy will be delivered by Marvin Winans, a long time family friend of the Houstons. The musical service will be filled with speakers and drums which are all starting to be set up at the church.
Fans who will not have invitations to present will be maintained by a distance and streets will be closed for about six square blocks all around the church's surroundings.
