It is the stars from independent films who always get shots at earning nominations at the Academy Awards, and two of them would surely include Felicity Jones and Elizabeth Olsen for the coming awards night.

Recent indie films seem to have the right ingredients in getting included in the privileged list of Oscar nominations. Previous examples include Jennifer Lawrence for 'Winter's Bone,' Ellen Page for 'Juno,' Amy Adams for 'Junebug,' and Carey Mulligan for 'An Education.'

It seems that the Oscars love having a pretty new face around all the time especially when this increases the overall quality of the movie. This year, one contender is Elizabeth Olsen for 'Martha Marcy May Marlene'.

There is also Felicity Jones for 'Like Crazy.' Other names worth mentioning that fall in this category are Adepero Oduye for 'Pariah' and Jessica Chastain for three movies, 'Take Shelter,' 'The Help,' and 'The Tree of Life.'

Olsen did not expect the avalanche of attention that would come her way, which she discovered during the Sundance premiere. "When we were there, things changed a few days into the festival, people started taking my picture as I was walking down the street, and that never happened the first three days of the festival," the young and new actress said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

But regardless of this seemingly tough match for the coming awards night for the Jennifer Lawrence slot, the makers of these films see to it that they are not there to compete with anyone else. They believe that each movie has its own story to tell and has its own achievements to be proud of. This of course includes the amazing performances of such fresh talents.
