While the controversial hosting stint of Ricky Gervais on this year’s Golden Globes is about to die down two weeks after the awards night, another issue involving the English comedian has cropped up.

Gervais reiterated late Tuesday his earlier pronouncement that he was asked to consider returning for his third hosting stint on the show. His assertion resulted from the confusion that had earlier ensued following his first announcement.

Earlier in the day, the Reuters said that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has vehemently denied Gervais initial announcement saying: “organizers asked me to consider a third year”.

The HFPA is the organizer of the awards show and has made clear itself from any involvement on the third-hosting-stint issue.

"There is no truth to this rumor. We have not asked him to come back. Nice try, Ricky," the association’s President, Philip Berk, was quoted as saying in a statement, according to Reuters. Beck is one of the targets of Gervais' savage and unwelcome wit during the event.

The organizers' denial has prompted Gervais to issue another statement late Tuesday. But this time, he asserted that it was an ‘executive at the NBC network’ who expressed his happiness for his services that he is now being asked for next year’s Golden Globes.

Gervais clarified to The Hollywood Reporter that he should clearly stated that it was that NBC network executive who gave him a short talk and not the ‘organizers’ like he said in his early declaration.

The representative for the-still-unidentified-network-executive told Reuters that the television official is in New York and could not be reached to get his side of the matter.

Meanwhile to clear himself, Gervais said that he had already got in touch with the organizers and cleared the confusion to its President, emphasizing his displeasure for the denial statement has seemingly insinuated that he was concocting up stories.

Something, Gervais insisted that was not his character.

"It's not fair. I always tell the truth," Gervais said, according to Reuters. "So that's the thing that bothered me."

Well, we will see who is telling the truth next year. At the Golden Globes.
