For the first time in its history, James Bond's 1964 Aston Martin DB5 will be up for auction and is expected to fetch more than $6 million in bids.

Actor Sean Connery drove the DB5 car in the '60s 007 films Goldfinger and Thunderball. It is the second of only two 007 versions of the renowned sports car. It will be sold through an auction in the United Kingdom on October 27. The other model was sold back in 2006 for US$2,090,000.

The car is equipped with the original 'Q' gadgets and modifications featured in the movies, including the front-mounted machine guns, rear pop-up bulletproof shield, revolving numberplates, oil-slick sprayer, smoke screen, tracking device, and the removable panel that allowed Bond to throw out his unwanted passenger using the Aston's ejector seat.

Jerry Lee, an American radio broadcaster, purchased the 1964 DB5 prototype from the Aston Martin factory in 1969 for $12,000.

Lee said that the proceeds from the sale will be given to an eponymous charity foundation that seeks to solve social issues like poverty.

"Like Q, we never joke about our work, which is why RM [Auctions] is consistently entrusted with the sale of the world's most significant collector cars like the 'real' 007 Aston Martin DB5 movie car," said Max Girardo, managing director of RM Europe.

"RM is known for world-record-setting results and we expect nothing less for 007's iconic DB5."
