Before April had ended, it definitely ended with a bang with the latest Hollywood news involving Selena Gomez and One Directions' Niall Horan. Niall Horan had allegedly turned down a date with Gomez given his friendship with Gomez's ex-beau, Justin Bieber. Now, how did Demi Lovato react to all this given she was linked to Horan late last year? It's the battle of the BFFs once more so who is better for Niall Horan: Selena Gomez or Demi Lovato?

The same week Selena Gomez reunited with Justin Bieber, news broke out that Selena had almost hooked up with One Direction member, Niall Horan. What's with the "almost?" Well, Niall Horan was the first guy to say no to a date with Selena Gomez. How and when did this even begin?

Blame Taylor Swift for the could-have-been date between Selena Gomez and Niall Horan. Back when Swift was still dating Harry Styles, the country crooner had handed over Selena's digits to Niall Horan. Apparently, Swift thought Selena and Niall would hit off perfectly well.

However, the date between Selena and Niall didn't even manage to come true because Niall had backed out of the idea. Niall, who was good friends with Selena's beau, Justin Bieber, remained loyal to the Bro code.

"Not only are they friends, but Niall's keen to avoid any trouble with Justin," stated a source to Now Magazine, adding, "He knows dating Selena could've prompted a war with Justin."

Obviously, Niall knows the boundaries between friends but this news had sparked a battle between "Selenators" and "Lovatics." For those who don't know, Niall Horan was linked to Selena's former BFF, Demi Lovato late in 2012.

The "X-Factor" judge had been going on virtual "Skype" dates with the One Direction cutie. On the other hand, Niall had admitted to having a crush on Demi Lovato. Fans had been extremely delighted when Demi also admitted to finding Horan "cute." Still, nothing sort of a relationship came between Niall and Demi. Surprisingly, Demi had also gone on to rant about the rumours that she had been in a short relationship with Niall Horan.

"I'm so tired of that! It never happened. Niall's a really sweet guy and I definitely consider him a friend, but it's never crossed that line.. He's a sweet kid and we have an understanding, but we're just friends," stated Lovato in an interview with MTV.

Yet, if in an alternate universe where Niall Horan wasn't dating Zoe Whelan, who between Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato would Niall Horan, choose to date?
