Why James Packer really dumped Mariah Carey
Casino mogul James Packer has allegedly dumped Mariah Carey as his fiancée has wanted to expose her personal life on a new reality TV show. It's a sad news for fans but James' relatives and friends have not found the revelation shocking.
“It’s all over,” a close family friend told Woman’s Day.
Packer was proud of his fiancée as she allowed the world to see the carefree side of him when they partied across continents. However, he had reservations about Mariah's new reality TV show.
In the past weeks, rumours have been circulating about the relationship of the ex-couple. Mariah has been devoting much of her time to the reality TV show and James has been reluctant to participate in it.
Mariah's Instagram images also led to the speculation that there were problems in their relationship. James has been absent from Mariah’s Instagram pictures in the previous weeks. In singer’s recent post, she was with her ex-husband Nick Cannon at a Halloween party.
Earlier this year, Mariah refused to attend James’s sister Gretel’s 50th birthday in Sydney, which created tension within the family. Ros Packer, society matriarch and Packers' mother, also struggled to connect with the singer. The anonymous source said that James' mother even hated to hear Mariah's name.
Even though the couple's engagement this year confirms that they are getting married, James' friends have doubts that it will happen.
Woman's Day reported that James asked for support since the break up to his first wife, Jodhi Meares.
Mariah's lavish lifestyle was another reason for the breakup. Although Packers has shown generosity, the singer has formed a habit of over the top spending. James has allowed Mariah to keep the US$10 million (AU$13.1 million) million diamond engagement ring.
In June last year, Mariah and James were first spotted holding hands on the Italian island of Capri in what was their first public outing as a couple. Seemingly relaxed in each other's company, they prompted speculations that they had been dating for some months prior to the trip.
Mariah and James have been married twice before, Mariah to music mogul Tommy Mottola and Nick Cannon, and James to Jodhi Meares and Erica Baxter.
Meanwhile, Mariah has cancelled her upcoming tour dates in Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
"To all of my lambs in South America, I am devastated that a portion of this tour had to be cancelled. Thank you for all of the excitement and love - I hope to see you soon, my darlings," Mariah told E! News.
