Why Katie Holmes has been keeping her relationship with Jamie Foxx a secret

It has been five years since Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise signed for a divorce from each other. There have been rumours in the past that Katie is dating Jamie Foxx, but the reality as to why she was keeping it under the wraps has only come out now.

Katie and Jamie have apparently been dating for about 3 years now but have never made their relationship public. According to Radar Online, the reason for keeping it a secret is because of Katie’s ex, Tom. Holmes’ divorce from Cruise orders she can’t officially "date" until 2017, an insider told Radar.

“Katie signed a clause in her quickie divorce settlement that prevents her from embarrassing Tom in various ways, like talking about him or Scientology, or publicly dating another man for five years after the divorce,” the source claimed.

The source also said that she was allowed to date, just not in a public fashion, and she is not allowed to let any boyfriend near their daughter, Suri. “Katie wanted to get out of the marriage so badly, she agreed to the terms, and got US$4.8 million (AU$6.2 million) in child support, plus another US$5million (AU$6.5 million) for herself.”

If she broke the rules, Holmes could lose the before mentioned money. Her determination to keep her single status in public has indeed raised many eyebrows over the years.

Katie did a film that was released this year that promoted the benefits of psychology and medication, something Scientology opposes. Katie also made news last year when she publicly apologised to Leah Remini, after the actress came out about her complex life as a Scientologist. In that citation, Cruise allegedly “freaked out.”

Keeping the relationship a secret is a difficult thing, both being celebrities in this case. People can just wait and see as to how things go with them, and how Katie keeps up with the conditions imposed on her.
