Why major TV networks keep distance from Charlie Sheen?
Sheen’s rep is working doubly hard to convince the big networks to give the former Two and a Half Men star, another chance.
After burning bridges with former bosses by accusing CBS honcho, Chuck Lorre, of influencing Warner Bros to officially fire him from Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen has remained unemployed and it looks like he will stay home a little longer.
Charlie Sheen has recently been reported “in deep negotiations” for a new comedy series in hopes to jumpstart his career in 2012.
Sheen’s rep is working doubly hard to convince the big networks to give the former Two and a Half Men star, another chance.
Citing a report by Deadline, AceShowbiz said that while CBS has been ruled out to sit down at the negotiating table with Sheen, other major networks are likely to follow suit.
Looks like Sheen’s rep has failed to convince ABC and NBC, and both have not expressed interest to take Charlie under their roofs.
Sheen is now left with one big network: The FOX Network. The 45-year-old Platoon star was reported negotiating with Fox in March, even tweeting in his then newly created Twitter account, some hints that a plan was actually being cooked up for him.
Reports are saying that a comedy series has been ‘written specifically for him’, noted AceShowbiz.
The only problem is, Fox already has its line-up for next season and, there is no room for another comedy series.
The bigger question now is why the networks are keeping their distance from the embattled actor.
A top official from an unidentified studio explained why Charlie’s camp has failed to win the hearts of America’s big networks.
"He is uninsurable," the source said, according to AceShowbiz.
And since there are no other takers for Charlie Sheen, it looks like the currently unemployed but once America’s highest paid actor on television, is still staying indoors and will be there longer than he had hoped for.
