Phillip Phillips was named as the newest addition in the list of the American Idols beating his opponent Jessica Sanchez.

After tallying over 132 million votes, Georgia native Phillip Phillips came out on top and continued the streak of male winners in the past seasons. Phillip Phillips won the hearts of many because of his talent of molding the songs to fit his voice and style that's helped him stay in the competition.

Phillip was put in the "Idol" spotlight since day one when he pulled off a memorable audition of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" and an acoustic version of Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Phillip Phillips shined during Hollywood weeks that placed him safely in Top 24 and eventually to Top 13.

He was noted as one of the best contestants with his fantastic covers of Usher's "U Got It Bad," Damien Rice's "Volcano" and Bob Seger's "We've Got Tonight," which he sang without the aid of his guitar.

Judges said that the competition is one of the most intense and most interesting face-off between two different singers. Phillip Phillips has always been the crowd's favorite and got a lot of votes preventing him to be placed in the bottom three except last week when he was in the bottom with Joshua Ledet determining the final two of the season.

Phillip Phillips is favored for his unique style and charisma on stage. The 21-year-old heartthrob guy was often compared to Dave Matthews. The guy known for his laidback style of rolled up sleeves with a guitar continued to pull out strong performances.

In the last round of performances, Phillip Phillips sang a beautiful rendition of "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King. However, judges say that the Jessica nailed the first round of the finals performance in the seasons with her version of "I Have Nothing" by Whitney Houston.

Phillip Phillips sang one of his best picked songs in the season, which is "Movin' Out" by Billy Joel.

Phillip Phillips moved and won the hearts of many on his final performance for the third round with the original song entitled "Home." The judges said that the song sounded very original and did not reminded them of anyone.
