There is more to some television series than ceaseless drama; some shows can actually save lives.

Wisconsin girl Madisyn Kestell, 10, has been watching Grey's Anatomy with an eye for what can be taken from the show and used in real life. When her mother had a nasty asthma attack, she put the lessons into good use.

Madisyn's mother, Kandace Seyferth, was on the stairs on her way to get her inhaler when she lost consciousness due to difficulty in breathing during a bad asthma attack. There was no other adult in the house, but Madisyn was with a 12-year-old friend, Katelynn Vreeke.

Madisyn first called 911 before administering cardio-pulmonary resuscitation on her mother while Katelynn did the chest-thumps.

The Telegraph reported that paramedics arrived within four minutes since the call, and Ms. Seyferth was rushed to the hospital.

Local newspaper The Sheboygan Press carried the story on Madisyn's successful mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Ms. Seyferth heard from the medical team about her daughter's courage when she passed out.

Jeff Hermann, the local fire chief, told the local media the young girls should be commended for their swift thinking and actions.
