Will Ferrell has delivered a message to the Australian people a day ahead of the federal election through his famous movie character Ron Burgundy. The Hollywood actor weighed in on the political scene Down Under with a short video that reminds people that Tony Abbott once wore a banana hammock.

Ron Burgundy is a fictional news reader from the 2004 blockbuster comedy “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” played by Ferrell.

The actor is set to reprise his role for the film’s sequel, “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues,” which is set to hit Australian theatres on December 19.

“Well, Australia, the battle of the titans has come to an end. We will never forget the mental fisticuffs in which Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard were engaged,” Burgundy began as he sat at a news desk for Global News Network.

“We laughed. We cried. We became distracted by Tony Abbott’s banana hammock. I certainly did. And forgot a Labor party ever existed. Good times, Australia.”

On Saturday, Australia is about to vote in a federal election that will determine the country’s new Prime Minister.

This isn’t Ferrell endorsed election. While Burgundy remained impartial in the latest clip, Ferrell was unapologetically biased in his 2012 endorsement message for U.S. President Barack Obama.

The “Anchorman” sequel expects its original cast to reprise their roles, including Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, Vince Vaughn, and Christina Applegate.
