For the first time in the history of tennis, the men’s semifinals and the men’s and women’s finals will be filmed in a new format and will be aired in 3D format to capable cinemas around the world.

All England Club chief executive, Ian Ritchie has made the announcement Monday, saying the club has finalized a partnership with Sony in hopes to present a more modernized championships in the tennis courts.

“Wimbledon is renowned for its heritage and sense of tradition,” All England Club chief executive, Ian Ritchie was quoted as saying by the Sportinglife.com.

Wimbledon began in 1877 and is the oldest tournament in tennis. It is also considered the most prestigious. Club chief executive Ian Ritchie explained that it is in this nature of the tournament that the idea to go for the 3D presentation that dances in the tune of time.

Ritchie continued in a statement, “And at the same time, we are always looking for ways to improve the presentation of the championships by successfully blending that tradition with innovation.

Wimbledon begins in June and ends between the first and second week of July this year.
